The Virginia Beach Falcons are celebrating their fifth season since their Renaissance began in 2004.  The team has come a long way since their inaugural season in which they went winless.  "We've done Good!" says Falcon Old Boy Todd Grissom.   The team has lost just a hand full of games since going 9-1 in the spring season of 2006.  Unfortunately for the Falcons they lost 9 A-side players to mostly military commitments in the transition from the Spring 2008 to Fall 2008 season, once again leaving them out of the playoffs.

"It's always going to be tough when you lose that many players from a squad," says Falcons President Steve Murray.  "You always have to rebuild and continuously grow.  This season we get to start from scratch and with our returning veterans from the fall, a lot of guys back to shore duty and a good experienced rookie class this team has a great chance to pick up where we left off last spring."  The Falcons began training  January 20th at the Police Training Facility off of Birdneck Rd and I 264, 411 Integrity Way.  They practice every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 PM.

On February 7, 2009 the Falcons participated in the Polar Plunge for the Special Olympics.  "We want to help out the community in any way we can and this is a great event.  Our goal is to be a role model for our community and we can do that in several ways.  This is one of them.  We help out economy by hosting Friendly Matches and our Tidewater Invitational Tournament which brings in teams from all over the eastern seaboard, We have plans to meet 'Green Initiatives' during our games as well.  We donate to the Virginia Beach SPCA.  We do a lot for the City of Virginia Beach and are proud to represent the city with our rugby team."  Murray added.
